Intimacy & Healing Intensive

Clinically Informed, Compassionate Intimacy Restoration

What Is Sex Therapy?

Sex therapy is a specialized form of professional counseling that addresses sexual concerns, intimacy challenges, and the emotional dimensions of sexual health. It is conducted entirely through conversation — there is no physical contact of any kind. Sex therapy is a legitimate, evidence-based clinical service offered by licensed mental health professionals with specialized training in human sexuality.

Sexual health is an essential dimension of whole-person wellbeing — and yet it is often the last area where high-achieving individuals seek support. Shame, cultural messaging, religious frameworks, relational history, and the demands of busy professional lives can all contribute to sexual concerns that go unaddressed for years. Sex therapy creates a professional, nonjudgmental space to explore these concerns with honesty, dignity, and clinical precision.

Sexual concerns addressed in sex therapy range widely: from low desire and arousal difficulties, to the sexual aftereffects of trauma, to intimacy disconnection in long-term relationships, to questions of sexual identity and self-expression. Whatever brings a client to this work, the process is grounded in evidence-based practice, ethical standards, and deep respect for the whole person.

How Victoria Uses Sex Therapy

Victoria is an Associate Certified Sex Therapist through the American Board of Christian Sex Therapists (ABCST), housed within the Institute of Sexual Wholeness — a program that integrates clinical excellence with a broader spirituality-informed framework. This background informs Victoria’s capacity to hold clients’ faith, values, and cultural contexts with sensitivity and without judgment — while maintaining rigorous clinical standards.

At Resiliency Counseling, sex therapy is offered as part of individual and couples work. Victoria approaches sexual wellness as inseparable from relational health, emotional safety, and self-worth — which means sex therapy here is never isolated from the larger context of a client’s life, relationships, and inner world.

Victoria integrates sex therapy with trauma-informed care, somatic approaches, and attachment-based frameworks — recognizing that sexual concerns are rarely purely physiological. They are relational, emotional, historical, and deeply human. Her approach honors that complexity without pathologizing it.
